Barcelona will play against Real Sociedad in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup, while Real Madrid will face Athletic Bilbao in the other match. The draw was conducted at the Spanish Football Federation’s AGM. The final four teams include the top two teams from last season’s La Liga and the finalists of the Copa del Rey. However, the Copa final between Sociedad and Bilbao has not yet taken place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Super Cup concept, introduced last year, was originally scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia as part of an agreement between the RFEF and the country. However, due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic, the tournament will now take place in the Andalusia region of Spain. Reports suggest that the RFEF and Saudi Arabia have extended their deal by a year to account for this change.

Barcelona will play against Sociedad on January 13 at the Nuevo Arcangel in Cordoba, while Real Madrid will face Bilbao on January 14 at the Rosaleda in Malaga. The final will be held on January 17 at the Cartuja Stadium in Seville.

In the Women’s Super Cup, Barcelona will face Atletico Madrid, who finished as runners-up in the league. The other semi-final will feature Levante against Escuelas de Futbol Logrono.

All three matches in the women’s tournament will be played at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium in Almeria.
